From Stornoway Airport

Follow the exit signs from the airport, passing over the mini roundabout towards the sea. At the end turn right and travel for 2 miles into Stornoway.

Cross straight over the first mini roundabout that you come to, and at the next mini roundabout, turn right. Follow the road for half-a-mile to the next roundabout and turn right. At the next roundabout turn left and you will be heading out of Stornoway.

Travel for about 5 miles to Leurbost, where there is a school on the left and a petrol station on the right. Four hundred yards after the petrol station, turn right to Gearraidh nah Aibhne and Acha Mor (at this point the road becomes the A858). Travel for a further 6 miles to Gearraidh nah Aibhne, where you turn left at the brown roadsign onto the B8011.

Travel straight for 8 miles and you will drive through the small hamlet of Giosla. Keep going for a further 7 miles, straight through Einacleite, Loch Croistean, Cairisiadar and Miavaig. You will pass through a deep-sided glen, and at the end of the glen you will see a signpost indicating Aird Uig 3 miles. Turn right here and keep on straight to Aird Uig.

Go through the old village, over the cattle-grid, and you will find Gallan Head Hotel the wooden-clad building on the left.

From Stornoway Ferry Terminal

Exit the terminal and turn left. At the first mini roundabout turn right. At the next mini roundabout, turn left. Follow the road for half-a-mile to the next roundabout and turn right. At the next roundabout turn left and you will be heading out of Stornoway.

From Tarbert Ferry Terminal

Come off the ferry and out of the port area. Turn right onto the A859 heading towards Stornoway. Go straight for 25 miles over the "Harris Hills" and down the other side, past bits of forestry through Airidh a Bhruaich, Baile Ailein (longest village in Britain) and Lacasay.

As you approach Leurbost you will see a signpost indicating it to your right, but keep straight and take your next left to Gearraidh nah Aibhne (if you pass a petrol station on your left, you have gone 400 yards too far). Go through Acha Mor (at this point the road becomes the A858). Travel for a further 6 miles to Gearraidh nah Aibhne, where you turn left at the brown roadsign onto the B8011.
